The original flower shop - a Scranton floral institution - was started by Bud and Nancy McCarthy is 1952 as a typical 'mom and pop' store. It was while Mom and Pop were busy running McCarthy Flowers of Scranton, young son Brian McCarthy was in the background – quietly learning everything he could about running a florist.
Possibly, Bud and Nancy had little clue that their son would not only take over ownership of the store in 1987, but that Brian would become one of the most successful floral retailers in Scranton, Clarks Summit, Dunmore and then nationally.
Today, the McCarthy family of florists extends across five states and is growing. One small florist shop in Scranton grew to become The McCarthy Group, a company owning locations and properties in Florida, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina as well as a national web-presence – McFlowers.com.
However, Brian still emphasizes his 'family' heritage and business philosophy to this day; and passes on that mantra to his staff. Brian explains, "Although it is perfectly possible to order from our McCarthy flower shops on line, I am still proud to be able to offer the same unique levels of in-house floral design and service that my parents offered over half a century ago. McCarthy Flower Shops may have grown geographically, but the family ethic of traditional floristry remains – fresh product that is bought directly from the growers, individual managers and designers who have spent years perfecting their floral craft and a real sense of delivering that unique floral arrangement to the recipient. Possibly, that is why McCarthy's has grown through the years."

* We will always try to accomodate a time sensitive order. If your delivery requires a specific time we will be happy to provide you with our express delivery service for an additional fee.
* Sunday delivery is available in certain markets. Where Sunday deivery is not available your order would be delivered the very next day.

It is our policy, however, to ensure customer satisfaction by offering replacements for those orders that do not meet our customer's expectations, free upgrades on future orders or a store credit for the entire amount of the order of which the customer was dissatisfied.

Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
